Clinometers and Right Angle Triangles

Lesson Overview: During my final practicum, one of the units I both planned and taught was the right angle trigonometry unit. This unit was set up so that the students were given a complete unit package which contained all the notes they would need from that unit. Each day we would take up homework, complete the notes from the day, work on examples and have time to do practice problems. Activities were peppered in to keep the unit fresh and exciting. One such activity was when we built clinometers to allow the use of trigonometry to find the height of objects around the school that would otherwise not be measurable.
