In the fall of 2016 I joined a group of inspired educators for a TLLP funded project focusing on integrating coding and digital making to support and enhance learning of math ideas at a J/I level. The focus of the project involved developing lessons and modeling key teaching points for the integration of computational thinking into the math curriculum to promote 21st century competencies in students. Later in the year, I joined another leading educator in the London area, Steven Floyd, in a similar project, this time visiting a number of schools in the LDCSB to provide an introduction to coding, while also serving in a mentorship role to teachers at a local elementary school. The following pictures are from coding sessions done with over half a dozen different schools in the TVDSB and the LDCSB.
Introduction to Coding

Nothing beats the pride in a student as they share and explain what they made.

Patterns can be fun when ugly sweaters are involved.
